Autumn Cup Catch-ups - Layla Takes B Grade, Ross takes C

2 catch-up games in the A Grade - Anthony Ker won against Arthur to finish on 4/5, and Russell Dive hauled himself off the bottom of the A Grade after a protracted struggle against Michael Nyberg.
One game left here, Arthur against Russell. It's a blood-thirsty group - only one draw so far!

As if anyone doubted, Layla has taken the B Grade with one game left to play. Peter Stoeveken blundered against her after 19 moves. Alan Aldridge will be quaking in his boots!

And the E Grade finished with Colwyn Forlong-Ford winning all of the games he played to take the title. Congratulations Colwyn!

I stayed late on Thursday, and stole some game scores that had been left behind. Sorry I haven't annotated them.

  1. I enjoyed the Dive-Nyberg game. I like the way Russell embarks on an apparently premature, crazy and completely out of character king side attack on move 3. But then both sides castle queenside and the game turns into a mirror image of a normal Dive white game, and the kingside attack is just like a normal (winning) Dive queenside attack!
