Julian Mazur Memorial Round 1

We have 35 starters for the Julian Mazur Memorial, the biggest tournament we've had for a while - thanks to you all for taking part.
It's an Open Swiss, so you generally expect to get fairly one-sided games in round 1. The lower half of the table didn't take it lying down though, and one of them, Alok Pandey, managed a win. He defeated the number 4 seed, when Brian Nijman relaxed his guard in basically a won position and allowed a lightning attack on his king. Congratulations Alok!

Club Champs A Grade 2012 Final Cross Table

Here is the final cross table for the 2012 Club Championship, A grade. Took a while, but we got there in the end!

Congratulations to Anthony Ker, who defeated his only rival on Thursday, and won the championship with a margin of one and a half points!
Thanks to everyone who took part over all 3 groups, despite all the disruption caused  by 2 changes of venue, and a change of club night, there was some very interesting chess being played. Here are the games that were played on Thursday, the decisive Ker vs Dive game, and the short game between Andrew Stone and Peter Stoeveken. Somehow the ending of Ker v Dive looks very wrong, so if anyone could provide a correction I would be grateful!

Anthony Ker 2012 Club Champion

It took its time, but the Club Championship 2012 finally finished last night! Anthony Ker defeated Russell Dive to take first place with 8 out of 9. Russell ended on 6.5/9 for second place, with Brian Nijman and Bill Forster on 5/9 heading the rest of the field.
