We are so used to seeing Wellington College winning the regional Senior Schools' Championship, it was a bit of a surprise seeing them pipped at the post by a strong St Patricks team this year - by the smallest of margins (half a point on the tie breaks).
Congratulations St Patricks!
The St Patrick’s team was: 1.Clemente Lopez 2.Seth Sison 3.Stephan Sison 4.Luis Ramos
Wellington High School had a secret weapon in Bea, a Czech exchange student just here for this year. She was the only player who managed to take a half point off top rated Wellington College player Ryan Winter.

Many thanks to Scott Wastney for organising this on behalf of the New Zealand Chess Federation. The national finals will take some time in September or October.
