Club Championship 2nd Catch Up Week

Only one game was played in the A grade this week, in which Anthony Ker extended his lead at the top. Russell Dive now needs to win all his remaining games to overtake him, which as we all know he is quite capable of. The possibly crucial Ker-Dive game will now take place on 1st November, which means they will both miss the first round of the Julian Mazur Memorial competition.

In the B grade Rama Rao beat Lawrence Farrington, which makes it look as though he is safe at the top of the table. However, one of his victories was against David Paul, and this result will have to be discounted with respect to the championship title, as David had to withdraw having played very few of his games. Alan Aldridge defeated the luckless Don Stracy, and this result means that Alan only needs a draw against Lawrence next week to take the title. This game will complete the B grade championship.
