Summer Cup Round 2 Games

Games from 14-Feb-13

A warm welcome to Philip Rossiter, former stalwart of the Hamilton Chess Club, who has now relocated to Wellington. Great to have you with us Philip.
Our top players cruised through their games effortlessly enough, but three of us 2000+ players were seriously manhandled, two by respectable white-haired gentlemen, and one by an eleven year old girl.
Most impressive maybe was Upper Hutt's Pat Cunningham, fresh from his annihilation of Rama Rao in round one, giving Brendan Reedy a lesson in major piece tactics. Then there was Don Stracy who, in an utterly lost position, doggedly turned it around thanks in part to appalling play by me, and despite at one stage having less than 10 seconds left on the clock. Then Bill Forster against Layla Timergazi... well, I think we can leave it to Bill to tell that story.
