Three Share Blitz Title

The annual Blitz tournament took place at the club on Tuesday, and it was a lot of fun. We had 24 players, which were split into two all-play-all groups of 12, with the top 3 in each group going through to the final. In hindsight, I should probably have had 3 groups of 8, as some people seemed to fade towards the end, so essentially the hard-core insomniacs had the advantage.
There was no Russell Dive, and unfortunately Anthony Ker left after the preliminary rounds. This left the way clear for the second tier of players to make an impact, and it was Brian Nijman, Michael Nyberg and I who came out on top in the end. I owe my success to the end of my last game against Scott, where he was comfortably in the lead on time (10 seconds against 6!!) but he seemed to fall asleep and let his flag fall.
It was nice to see David Paul back in Wellington after a stint up the Kapiti Coast. He picked up a few notable scalps in the preliminaries and did well to make it to the finals.
