Just a few games from round 2 of the Autumn Cup played on Thursday - all the games from the A grade, and some annotated games sent to me. Many thanks to Al Nicholls, and also to Michael Sole who annotated his own game, and his brother's too.
My game was a disaster for me, but well played I thought by Mark.

Autumn Cup 2014 Round 2 Results
After 2 rounds of the Autumn Cup, there are only 2 players left on 2/2, new players Mike Asplet in the E grade and Michael Sole in the F. Nic Croad pressed hard against Anthony but had to settle for a draw in the end, so those two lead the A grade on 1.5 points apiece. Russell Dive and Mark van der Hoorn each have 1/1 after postponing last week.

Autumn Cup Round 1 Games
There were a lot of interesting games at the start of the Autumn Cup on Thursday. The B, C and D grades had mostly draws, while the other divisions had all decisive results.
Here is my disaster against Nic Croad
Thanks to Al Nicholls for annotating his game against Peter Stoeveken. What he doesn't mention is that the game went on for many more moves, and Al didn't find the win in a Bishop Knight and King vs King endgame. I had the same problem against Ross Jackson a couple of years ago.
Layla was doing fine against Michael Nyberg despite having no pawns in front of her king, but one slip allowed Michael's rook to penetrate.
